I've had this discussion more often with my brethren in basektball stripes, but the principle still applies:  Should they press charges or file a complaint with the police?  Third-hand story of a basketball ref who has a 19 yr old girl drill him in the back of the head with the ball as he's reporting a foul to the table.  Do you file charges?  In this case do you file charges against the women whose heads were in the windows?  I totally get not wanting to.  Big hassle.  No one got hurt.  Who wants to be the guy who had a girl/mom/player/whatever arrested.  But the message of what is acceptable could be very strong.

Umm I do.  I volunteer!  Pick me!  I would have no issue with seeing one of these imbeciles get locked up for a period of time.  Just cuffed would be nice to see. They get to do or say whatever they want with the safety net of us not wanting to retaliate and never be able to umpire a game.  Not a grain of sympathy for these people.

I wouldn't go around looking to volunteer to take a punch. You never know what you might be up against (no matter how tough you think you are). A Michigan Soccer referee was punched last Sunday and died.

I am with Jocko on this one.

I would love to see a parent come up and grab me. He will walk up to me and be carried out. I take every threat serious.

Here is what needs to happen

- All baseball parks, basketball locations and High Schools need to make parking just for officials and umpires and it should be away from the rest of the public

- All threats should be taken for real and cops need to be called

- If a parent or coach make a threat and are found guilty you should be banned for one year

- If a parent or coach touches a official the cops should be called and if found guilty they should recieve a life ban.

I should not have to go to work and be in fear that some low life is going to attack me
