I am the chief umpire in our local MSBL league. We have very few problems most seasons, as 99% of the guys in the league understand that it is a rec league, and they just play for the pleasure of playing.

 Pete Jr and I were working game one of the best-of-three championship series in a three-man crew. I was at the plate, and Junior was on first. In the second inning, a player was picked off at first and was out as he could be. He immediately started crying that the pitcher balked, when in fact, he was simply hosed by a good move. In this player's next AB, he grounded out to short on a fairly close play. He threw his helmet down, and yelled "that's two you've missed". Junior turned to look at him, and the player said "Did you hear me ? That's two you've blown". Adios, adieu, sayonara, goodbye. The rest of the game went without a hitch.

 The next night we were working game two.In what wound up being a seven-inning blowout, a player who is known to be a bit of a hot head struck out looking. He proceeded to reach across the plate and illustrate, for Pete Jr's benefit, exactly where he determined the pitch passed through the opposite batter's box. Guess what ? He was promptly shown the gate. The following batter flew out on the first pitch to end that half-inning. I walked down the line to speak with Jr, and the player came across from the 3rd base dugout and said "I wanna talk to you". I replied that he had been ejected and needed to leave the field. He then asked "So you people think you can eject someone for not even saying anything ????!!! I just pointed toward the gate...

 

 Some people have zero sense.....

Correct and if you had any baseball sense you would know that's an auto eject. I was standing by the Home dugout during an adult game. Batter drew a line, PU dumped him. The dugout looked at me and asked what he did. I said,"Drew a line." They all said oh yeah, can't do that.

Nepotism or not, Pete Jr is a helluva umpire. He made it on his qualifications, not on his name. I just wish I had been as good as he is, at his age. Of course, I didn't have as good of a teacher as he has had, either.....
