His leg came up as if to pitch, then he turned the OTHER way to step and feint to 2B. 8.05(a)

 

If he spins without lifting the leg in the start of his pitching motion OR he goes around the other way, he's fine.

Maven he can still lift his leg. Like you said he spun the wrong way to do it.
