Batter is on the team down 14-1 in 4th inning of summer league tournament.  Historically very laid back and fun.  His coach spent the first two innings getting on the team any chance he had.  Next two innings he decided to chirp at umpires.  So his team is cranky and losing.

First pitch I call a strike at needs hit outside corner.  Batter gives me a little look, no big deal.  Second pitch hits corner but is lower and I call it a ball.  Batter says "That was the same pitch." and I respond "that one was lower."  He shoots back "No way that was the same pitch come on."

"That's enough get in the box and let's play," I say.  Batter facing center field, "How many tequila shots did you have before the game?"  Cather laughs out loud. (Hey it was funny I will give the kid that)

"You're gone!" as I throw my hand up in ejection fashion.  he turns back and just laughs in that annoying way and I add "By the way I prefer whiskey."

I know adding that line is not the most professional.  Probably has a lot to do with the fact I am much more laid back in that summer ball circuit especially when the players are and since most are of college age as well.

If it's a laid back league and Batter says "That was the same pitch." and I respond "that one was lower." He shoots back "No way that was the same pitch come on." then I might be tempted to say "ok count is 0-2 because that first pitch was a strike" then when he looks at me, smile, and give the correct 1-1 count and say lets play.
