Hey guys, I've decided I want to do CDP this summer, and I have a few questions.  How do I find a team?  Does the team have to be in my area, or even my state?  What kind of eval process is there, if any? What kind of compensation should I expect from my sponsor team?

You can go with or without a team. Most people that aren't from the upstate NY area go with a team to help with travel costs. A team will pay you to umpire for them. Price is determined by you and the team. The team can be from anywhere though its usually easier to find one in your area. If your over 18 and have a pulse you're in. Compensation as said earlier is determined by you and your team. If your flying most people just want flight and rental car covered.

We have a section on the ABUA forum for CDP interactions. We get a good number of teams coming to the site to find umpires to accompany their teams. That might be a good place to start. Warren has a CDP section here too where you can express your interest in finding a team to go with.

Good luck!

JaxRolo is one of the best to ask. That's the highest level of baseball that he can umpire and be good at it :fuel:
