R1 breaks for 2nd, pitcher stops his leg motion, throws to F3. I scream balk balk balk. DTAC comes unglued, I tell him come talk to me, he says I don't want to GD talk, I then tell him to stay in the dugout, he rants rants, so I oblige my telling him good night....BOOM.

HC comes out and I tell him, we aren't talking about the Balk anymore...he asks why not, I say you lost that chance when your assistant decided too scream from the dugout. HC says well I think you made a great call but you have no backbone for throwing out my assistant coach. I respond with, here join him. BOOM.

Needless to say, Coach #3 didn't come out.

In parking lot as I head out a parent says, those guys have to coach All Stars and were running late....funny if I'd known that I'd have saved my breath.

For the most part, great job!! :D

Only thing I would have done different is that the assistant shouldn't be talking to you at all, no need to invite him out... If he hadn't had a smart mouth and did come talk to you, odds are the manager would have come out too, and all of a sudden you're outnumbered.

Good Ejection... I agree with MJR and add be careful when telling a coach to come out and talk to you.  If they're screaming at me in the dugout, a good stern "That's enough!" with the stop sign usually works.  If they want to eject themselves after that, They can continue to scream at me from the parking lot!

I pretty much use the same criteria that we use for ejections when it comes to having to deal with upheaval coming from the dugout. I choose to not hear it until it becomes personal, profane, or prolonged. When it does, out comes the stop sign and "knock it off". This lets me shift my focus to the dugout so I can spot the offender(s) for certain. If they don't heed the warning, then someone gets run. I know some other guys who use the hundred mile stare really well too. It works for them. That said, the ejections were deserved, but as others have said, you probably shouldn't have told the AC to come out and talk to you. Our objective for good game management is to try and keep them in the game if at all possible.

I didn't bait him out, he was out yelling at the baseline...in summer ball there is no report. I told him to come talk to me instead of screaming from the foul line...I understand your point though Mike.

I wouldn't have EJ him in summer league for coming out to chat...this particular teams AC is the HC during the fall season... strange. However he only got tossed because he was an idiot
