I'm going through a divorce right now, and it occurred to me...what would happen to all my umpiring stuff if I were to die before the divorce is final? I've never put anything specific in my will about it, and I have a hunch my soon-to-be-ex-wife would be more than happy to take it to the firepit and roast marshmallows over it.

Just thinking...a specific directive is good, especially if you have something rare, such as a Power, but even with the amount of investment we put into our uniforms, equipment, and manuals, it would be a waste for all of that to be tossed away as just some old smelly baseball stuff or sold for far less than it's worth to some secondhand store. So, if you have specific people in mind, or even a specific method of disposal (such as having a price list for the executor to sell on this site, for example,) it will ensure that your stuff remains useful.

Put me down as your beneficiary. I'll take good care of your gear. :D

In time to military 4-4 cadence:

I love being a baseball ump

No matter who is on the bump

If I die in my box stance

Bury me in PW pants

Give my gear to another blue

He'll know just what to do

When I got in our HS group one of our two Pro school guys had died during the offseason. His wife brought all his gear to the first meeting and it was divided up between the new guys. My first uniforms came from this excellent umpire.
