Guys it has been almost a year since I checked the forums out. A lot has happened to me in this year. Graduated college with a Health and Physical Education Degree, along with a minor in English. I have stopped working high school ball for now, but I am still into the updates to the rules and situations. I stopped working at the HS level because of two reasons that would've made for a miserable season. One, my loving Mother passed away from fighting cancer about the time meetings and clinics were going on. Then I was so swamped with school work because this past season was during my student teaching semester. But, I am still in the game. I have helped train two younger officals this year at my local league, along with calling a ton of ball around the local area from 15u-9u. I am glad to be back and to be apart of this site, because the only friends that we have on the field are our fellow umpires!

Welcome back! Glad you made it through student teaching, too! You have to enjoy paying someone in order to work a full-time job. Congratulations and welcome back!

Thanks guys, You will see me many on the equipment and situation forums. @Cuban, actually she only saw me call one ballgame. It was a tight game between two 5A schools (highest classification in Louisiana). She told me that she respected what I did, but she couldn't go watch another game. Guess she couldn't handle me getting yelled out by crazy fans. This is the same game that my Coon@$$ grandmother almost went to knock the fire out of a man that was giving me heak, until my mother grabbed her arm.

gotta love La! I have called there 2x, and would GLADLY go back. My carpool was waiting for a field to finish for the night. I went to the concession stand for a drink. BEER! THERE WAS BEER!

HAHA!!! I got offered a beer at a local high school mulitple times by parents and coaches. The crazy thing is it didn't matter if they won or loss. I am glad I did not take their offer up or all respect for me would have been out the window from that point on!

I normally would NOT have, but since I was out of uniform in shorts and a tshirt, and I was at a different field, I poured the beer into a coke cup and enjoyed a shrimp poboy at the ballpark.
