Pitching Machine game

Worked a pitching machine game today. Haven't done that I over a year.

I was hustling all over. On that of every call. No problems.

After the game I heard a parent say "that was the best Umpire we've had all year"

I smiled inside myself and kept walking.

I know what what parents and coaches say don't mean anything. But it is nice to hear a complement sometimes.

Most will scoff, but those are tough games to work.

We have an end of season tournament for the little guys, and it's the first time the scoreboard is lit, and umpires show up. It's also the case that the parents and coaches go absolutely berzerk.

The hardest part is trying to figure out where the hell the ball is going to be thrown next. In teenager games, there's a logical play, and when the ball's hit, you can anticipate a certain play. Not so with the midgets. It's like freakin' pinball.
