Saturday I had a JV fall ball game which served as an example of many things but the big story is that JV kids can't go 9 innings. We had a great game going whe completed 7 in just over 1:30. We didn't do anything to jinx ourselves and neither did anybody else. Well the top of the 8th took 45min, the bottom took another 30 min. We really thought we were going to get the complete 9 in. The kids ran out of juice and on defense they really weren't trying. They had no pitching left.

As hard as I tried I couldn't buy a strike. After 8-9 runs scored I was telling the batters "big strike zone" Each of them knew what I was saying and and just replies with a "yes sir" But I still couldn't get one.

The entire 8th inning I was cursing whoever thought 15-16 y/o could go 9.

I feel the same thing about youth double headers....about the second inning of the second game, they have run out of enthusiasm, talent, ability, desire and most importantly pitchers and catchers.......
