Really!?!?!?

This could really go in a lot of different places, but I got a laugh out of it, so I'm putting it here.

Had a 14u game tonight. A team from our park is playing a church team from another city. The church team is just so over matched its not funny. Anyway, in the bottom of the 2nd, home team batting. They're up 10-0 at the time. <acronym title='Pitcher'>F1</acronym> pitches, ball barely gets to the dish and he tries to check his swing. For the coaches box at 3rd I hear "really?". I look and the coach had his back turned to me and head in his hands. I say, "thats enough!" And hold my hand up.

After the half is over, they're up 14-0. The other team has maybe 2 defensive outs in 2 inning. I pull both coaches over and tell them, "we are not going to argue balls and strikes. You are way up and it is definitely uncalled for.". The coach that said it looks at me like I offened him and says, "blue, I wasn't talkin to you, I was talkin to the batter. I told him not to swing at any crap, and he did.". I wanted so bad to smack him up side the head with my mask and tell him, I've been doing this a long time, and I know when somebody's complaining. After the game, I told my partner what he said and we both had a good chuckle. Instead of a show called kids say the darnedest things... There should be a show called coaches say the dumbest things.

or "coaches don't think" I was coaching first for my sons team and the manager had 3rd. we were up 12-4 in the TOP of the 7th. Runner got to first and he gave him the steal sign. i told the kid not to steal unless it's a passed ball to the backstop. After the 3rd out and 17-4, the coach came into the dugout and asked the kid why he didnt steal, i told him I stopped him because of the score, he looked at me and said "your right, I forgot". I can see if this was a good team that maybe could have came back, but they got 4 runs all due to errors.

The team that lost got 2 kids on base... One was about three foot tall and had no strike zone, the other got one straight to the ribs... It was definitely the longest hour and fifteen minute game I've ever done.

Ya know, having tried to get kids to do certain things, based just on what you wrote, I wouldn't be at all surprised (especailly in a blow out) if the coach really was exasperated at a kid he's been working with swinging at a pitch like that rather than with your checked swing call. I know when I'm coaching, I'm a hekuva lot more focussed on what my kids are doing than on what the ref/umpire is doing.

Like I told my partner. I would like to believe him, but ive been doing this so long, its kinda hard to. Had no problems after that. Nothing but good game blue after the game.
