Suggested CP for a new Young Lady Umpire

Hello all,

My 15 y/o daughter has decided to give back to LL in return for all that she has gotten from the program. She is working toward becoming a Junior Umpire in our local LL.

I know that no CP fits everyone, but I am wondering which CP our lady umpires on the list have found to be best suited to their physique.

Initially she will be working major & minor boys BB and girls SB so I doubt she will need a Wilson Gold but would a washboard or multi panel "soft" CP fit better than a hard shell?

As a number of us cross post on the other umpire sites, you may have gotten your answer.......I answered on umpires resource center as well...but in case you missed it...

I called the only female umpire I know and she reccommended the K1. She does HS/college softball and youth baseball, but also said the champion and pro nine K1 knockoffs will do fine for your daughter........

I saw Rita C. a pretty well known female umpire recommended the K1 too.

Whatever you choose, don't listen to Canadaump6's advice at OF about using a catcher's protector. That is just the most stupid, worst advice ever in history. Either get a K-1 or a hard shell of some kind. Don't skimp on protection, no matter what age group is playing baseball.

Thanks SDS. Catchers CP's are a very bad idea, yet I see them out there every so often. These umpires need to remember that the catcher has 2 very important things helping him not be hit.

1. A glove to catch the ball, or at least try to
   
2. They know where the pitch is supposed to be.
   

When was the last time you saw a catcher get really hurt compaired to the last time you saw an umpire get hurt?
