I wrote once or twice about my ankle problems. I went to the Poditrist for the first time in nearly 20 years about my ankles. It has just gotten to the point where even after 1 game they will stiffen up and I'm useless when I get back from a game.

He's starting me on a plan to help me non-surgically if possible. I got some hydrocortizone shots and he's taped it up well for me and wants to see me next week. He's also given me an ankle brace. to wear when working. He says it I should be able to wear it comfortably in my shoes durring a game. I have my doubts. It's not terribly bulky, but with the sizing of the NB 450's I wear leaving no room to spare I'm very curious.

I'm probablly going to wear my brace with the plate shoes around the house tonight to make sure they work, if not I may be up S:censored:ts Creek as I see Ump-Attire is temporarily out of stock on my size of the Reeboks.

I intended on buying new base shoes this fall, but waiting until next year for plate shoes. I think it's amazing that I do 60+% of my games behind the plate and my plate shoes have held up better than my NB 350 base shoes.

We will see.

Can the brace be worn over the sock? If so, you might try it that way.

Right now he's got my ankle taped up pretty snug. It both feels good and bad at the same time. I go back next week and get the tape removed (no pool for me this weekend :Spit_20Laugh: ) The brace is worn over the sock. Jus t wearing it in already snug shoes may bee too much for the ol NB's.

Warren,

I've had ankle issues for a long time and the newer shoes (Reeboks and NB's) have helped but I still can't do a DH without my ankles getting really stiff after the game. A friend of mine is an orthopedic PA and he gave me two of the braces below. I wore them religiously for several years and have given them up this year unless I am working a DH. So far I haven't had many problems. They are worth the money...http://www.asoankle.com/

Warren,

Wish you the best of luck w/ your ankles and hope you don't have to undergo any surgery.

Regarding the Reeboks, I'm in the market as my old plate shoes are leaving my feet barking after a few games and w/ tournament season cranking up, figured I'd join the unofficial fan club. Called Ump Attire yesterday and Jim answered the phone right before they closed...he took the order, but unfortunately, they called back today after trying to fill the order to say my size (11) is also out. Everywhere I check, they are out...at least in the majority of sizes.

As I mentioned in another thread, Reebok is going to make another limited production run in July for the mids and one version of the lows (can't remember if it's b/w or all black)...other version of low is done until next year.

Still looking, but have only found them w/ some unknown retailers where their pictures, model name and/or description don't match.

FWIW...

This is the brace the Dr. gave me. http://www.aircast.com/index.asp/fuseaction/products.detail/cat/1/id/9

I wore it around the house lastnight in my plate shoes. It did fit just not comfortably as I'd like, mainly due to the mid top of the NB's. I may go back to my Nautilus low cut plate shoes until the Reeboks are available agian I will have to see. Sunday I'll figure it out.
