Came home from baseball practice last night and guess when i found on my door, my umpire equipment.:HD:

Here's what I got:

Champro Pro-Plus Chest Protector (w/ biceps & ab extension)

Diamond iX3 Shin-Guards

Diamond iX3 Featherlight Mask (grey bars w/ mirrored sunvisor)

I'm hoping to find my red shirts and black shirts on the doorstep when I get home today!

I've got 2 games tonight and I just might do both of them behind the plate!

I'm just astounded at how light the mask is! I didnt think I had been out of the game that long. I had some good catching gear when I played that was the lightest they made but this thing is ridiculous.

After proof reading this, I feel incredibly old.

Champro-Pro Plus...is that the hard-shell Wilson Gold mock?

PICS!!!!! :HD:

the only pics I have of the vest are the ones from online.

Seems like a very light vest put feels sturdy. We'll find out tonight, I have to umpire LL 10U. The last time I was behind the plate, in the course of a 28 minute half inning the catcher caught 2 pitches. The rest pretty much bounced off of me either on the bounce or ON THE FLY!:HD:

I'll take some pics tonight so you guys can see it on and under an umpire jersey

Welcome to 9U/10U ball

That vest looks more like a Diamond iX3 copy than anything Wilson makes

I umpire travel baseball 14u and younger and these kids seems to know baseball pretty well. The baseball here in this particular little league is just BAD. I have been brainstorming on things that could be done to improve the caliber of baseball. Might be an idea for another thread.:HD:

I looked at that vest as well and I decided I liked the Pro-Plus better because of the added protection on the collar. Reason being, I took a foul ball off the top of my left shoulder last weekend and made up my mind that this would not happen again.

I had this CP, it was a fairly good vest, I wore it through 13u travel ball, felt some shots that I shouldn't have, but nothing TOO TOO bad...the one caution I will give is this...wear this CP as close to your throat as you can. I had it to what I "thought" was snug. Got ready for a pitch, foul ball, straight into that collarbone protector...or at least I thought I could call it a protector...went down like a ton of bricks. Thankfully nothing broken, but was sore, and bruised for 2 weeks.

Moral of the story...wear this thing TIGHT...fit it to where you think it's good, and then tighten the top straps by another 2 or 3 inches.

DLEAVITT39 I really appreciate the advice on the CP! I did exactly that. (The military side of me said wear it good and snug) I wore it last night in a 12U game and liked the flexibility and protection. All in all, a pretty good purchase I feel like. I'm going to be calling some summer 18U baseball and we will see how it holds up there.

The shinnies took a couple good shots and I didnt feel a thing! Very light and fit well under my plate pants.

The mask was incredible! Took a good foul ball and didnt feel a thing. Now I just wish I knew someone here willing to trade my Royal Blue colored All Star 1pc mask for a black one. Variety being the spice of life and all.
