In case you didn't know already Jim Kirk has created a new blog.

I think this will be very interesting. His opening post sets the stage well and I think will fit a underserved niche.

For over 4 and 1/2 years, I have written the "Officially-Unofficial" blog. Posts have been a stew of information and writings regarding various sports officiating, but mostly baseball and its gear and clothing, plus insights regarding our company and sales info not shared elsewhere.

Consider this a spin-off. The focus with "Good Calls - Baseball and Umpiring" will be in promoting the profession of umpires. How does one do that with a blog?

My objective is to simultaneously uplift within and to enhance throughout.

One is to help achieve a higher level of professionalism and pride within the umpire community through sharing of stories, information and insights (including gear and clothing) from myself and other umpires and leaders.

The other is to enhance the reputation of the umpiring profession with fans, players and coaches.

See the game simply can not exist without umpires beyond the sandlot and pick-up games. With the advanced training they receive and the experience they possess, the best choice on the field of your dreams is these men in blue (or black or whatever color they are wearing on a given day).

As a result, it is their non-celebrated occupation that allows fans, players and coaches to enjoy such a great human game - mistakes and all by umpires and players alike.

I'd like to celebrate that more while doing my small part to help make the profession a better one for those who make the calls. Will you join in? Consider bookmarking and using the sharing tool in the right column to share with others.

Note: "Officially-Unofficial" will continue as Ump-Attire.com's company blog.

Posted by Jim Kirk, CEO/President of Ump-Attire.com and avid fan of sports and sports officials everywhere.

Thanks so much for the love Warren. We have received a very good response from the blog in just a little over a month. I hope your members will help us pass the blog link along in order to help us better reach our vision of helping umpires achieve greater satisfaction, safety, wellness and respect.
