Anybody here do any slowpitch softball umpiring or pitching wanna have a take on this topic? I'm kind of torn on the issue, because as a slowpitch pitcher, I like having the extra 2' of arc in order to try to throw hitters off. I know that the flatter the pitch comes in, typically the further it goes out. As an umpire I can see that 10' would be a much easier call than 12'.

I don't work slow pitch, but I am certfied to. WHat they told us at the state meeting was that the umpires were not enforcing the 12', so they lowered it to 10' so that the umpires would enforce 12'.

i do slow picth and i cant imagine that there wont be more offense. Slow pitch plate is my least favorite,...i think we'll be generous with the 10 feet and reward the pitchers who dont keep testing at 12..we start in a few weeks
