i havent bought real pants yet..why are plus pos so much less expensive than the others. Are plate pants huge? should i get my regular size?

I just ordered two new pair of pants from Honig's. The Athletic Cut Plate and Base pants. I like both pair. However, the plate pants seem huge to me. Not the waist size, but the bagginess of the legs. Now I know they are overly large to allow for the protective gear, and I respect that. But I wonder if a pair of combos would be suitable as the plate pants, since they wouldn't be quite as baggy. All in all, I am extremely satisfied with the quality of the pants, and could not be more pleased. I am anxious to see what others have to say.

I would still have a separate pair of base pants for the bases, no doubt. Just curious if anyone has ever taken the combos as your option for plate pants.

If you wear a double-knee or triple-knee shin guard, don't even think about getting combo pants.

Plate pants are cut large so they won't be tight against the legs (with the guards on) and so they give plenty of room when you're crouched.

I can remember thinking that combos were the way to go, until I tried on a pair of Cliff Keen's on over a pair of shin guards that were smaller than the Wilsons that I wear (didn't have my guards with me at the time) - - the results spoke for themselves: they were skin tight around the knee area. They'd slide down a bit when I stood straight up, but after crouching a time or two, they hugged the area around the knees, and when standing up, they looked just plain silly, and you could tell that the hem would be about 4" to 6" above my shoe tops. Not a good look at all.

In my opinion: quality. It has it's price.

Yes, get your regular waist size. I wear a 36" dress slacks, and I wear a 36" plate pant. When you get your plate pants hemmed, wear your shin guards and plate shoes - and make sure you have whoever is going to hem them (tailor, wife, girlfriend, whomever) make them "extra long" -
