Anyways i meet the Pu who is an Officer great guy and we had good game i was BU i think this was 9-10 years old. 60 feet. Home team was not please with some of my calls.

saying runner never had ball. MY PU here protected me and gave the coach a warning. he comes out again and complains. This is where i think the PU made the mistake.

Manager or coach comes back Pu warns him if he gets any closer he steps over the line he is gone. so he steps on the line over with one foot he is ejected.

Than everything settles down. and PU went to talk to him. so he back in the game. Again i believe he was upset with a call and he kicks the dugout

I believe the PU who is an local officer ask if i was ok when the coach came out. But i believe he should of kept his ejection from the start. i believe when the coach kick the dugout he was not please with a call i made.

Edit: Sorry if hard to understand i made this when i was half a sleep lol.

Are you saying that the PU, after ejecting the coach, let him back into the game :meditation:?

He should have kept his ejection, and that is by rule. I'm pretty sure Cal Ripken plays by OBR, so here is the rule: "If a manager, coach, player, or spectator is ejected from a game, they shall take no further part in that game. They may not sit in the stands and may not be recalled. They shall immediately leave the vicinity of the field."

Let me know if I'm misreading your post and gathering another situation then is presented. This is very strange. :rollinglaugh:

As for the other parts of the post, once your partner gave a warning "coach, we are not going to be discussing judgement calls" and the coach comes out again, he's gone. you or your partner set the line, and he crossed it.

make sure though if a coach does come out to let him get what he needs off his chest. dont right away tell him, "its a judgement call, its not up for discussion". ask the coach, "what did you see coach?" he tells you what he saw, he gets it off he chest, you tell him, "coach i got a very good look at that and here's what happened: blah blah blah" then thats it. end of discussion.

as for your partner saying, "if you get any closer, your gone", not too smart wording. "coach get back to your dugout" will do. if he comes to you and argues on a judgement call again, after your partner told him no more (such as after every single call you made), he is not listening to what you and your partner set as the rules and he needs to be gone.

alright...so critter, once your partner ejected the coach, did he bring him back into the game? from your OP, that's what it sounded like...

i was not going to even eject him since i understand tournaments have more of a emotion in and you suppose to listen and not eject right away.

Now if i ejected him i would of not let him come back. I just kept and eye on him.

good :WTF

See i was second guessing myself on the first ejection i had. in 2008. Pitcher having trouble with zone. he goes that a "strike" i tell him its outside. he goes "its a strike" I warn him now he arguing a judgement call. than he said something i forgot. but i throw him out.

fan goes "comon this for the kids" i pretty much tell him to shush and right away he zips his lips.

Exactly, once the rat is sent back to his hole, he must not be allowed to come back. Period.

Now are there times when an ejection is warranted, but there are no hard feelings? Absolutely. I had a situation this year where I ejected a coach that I like and respect. I have always liked doing his team's games because I know it's going to be fun. It was a Legion game, where R1 had violated the FPSR so I banged the BR out as well. I don't like the rule, but I have to call it. He came out to argue with me, but not in a negative way. I explained it to him, he wasn't buying, but never did he get disrespectful. I ended it, told him to get back to his box, which he did, then he asked me again. I told him to stop, so we could get the game going. He started up from the box about it again, so I dumped him. I wasn't mad, and neither was he, but I wanted to get the game going. I told his assistant to tell him no hard feelings.

He came up to me after the game, we both had a laugh, I got him all straight on the FPSR and how it is interpreted, and all was good. But I would have never allowed him back on the field after I ejected him.

Why was the PU protecting you? Did you need protection?

IMO, that's mistake number 1. Why is the PU giving the coach a warning? You said the HC was upset at YOU not the PU. if anyone is going to give a warning it should have been you

IF and I say IF the conversation between you and the HC gets heated and the game is slowed down THEN the PU can intercede to get the game moving.

Manager or coach comes back Pu warns him if he gets any closer he steps over the line he is gone. so he steps on the line over with one foot he is ejected.

Than everything settles down. and PU went to talk to him. so he back in the game. Again i believe he was upset with a call and he kicks the dugout

DO NOT ISSUE WARNINGS as that "locks you in" You do not say things such as One more word etc. etc. You simply say "Skip that's enough time to play ball"

Also, once you EJ you DO NOT undo it as that sets a VERY BAD precedent.

It his nature i think he wanted to make sure i was ok when the coach ask me on a call. Which i am perfectly fine with. Being an officer of the law He thinking about safety of his partner on the filed like he would be in the job.

lol pete i would eject and not allow them on. like my first ejection i believe i was to quick but i already throw him out i was not going back on that.

That was PU ejection and i back him up here and there. Even though i believe he was wrong. I still back him up.

A coach asking you a question on call is not like an officer "being on the job" where he/she is protecting their partner.

This was a simple case of a coach wanting to ask YOU what you had and your partner "stepped in" Why are you fine with that?

It's one thing if a coach is combative etc. but the coach (even though a rat) has the right to ask YOU what you have or what you saw.

This has NOTHING to do with backing up your partner. Your partner made an EJ (whether you agree with it or not) THAT's backing up your partner but now YOUR partner UNDID the EJ. If the "other" coach got upset (which he would be in his right) then you could have had a shi*****e on your hands.

Bottom line it's umpire protocol to allow the coach to talk to the umpire who made the call. If it was me and the coach ASKED for time and wanted clarification on a call YOU made I would simply say "skip go talk to critter" IMO, that is not throwing my partner under the bus but observing umpire protocol. AS long as the discussion did not get heated or delay the game I would give you your due to handle the situation.
