I was coaching my son's coach pitch team tonight. This is totally a developemental league. Community league that has poorly written rules. In fact every game we have played has had a different variation of the rules. No big deal. We don't keep score, 3 outs or everyone bats whichever comes first in the inning, no umpires (the coaches call the plays). I admit when I am the "umpire" All ties and anything close goes to the runner. That way more kids bat and we field the ball more. This is fun. I am first base coach. Other teams coach is the field coach and BU. The kid on my team who has the most opportunity for improvement comes to the plate. This kid does not swing the bat well. We have worked with him and worked with him he just doesn't get the concept. Many parents speculate that he may have some form of autism. The BU coach turns to his right fielder and makes fun of my player. "This kid can't even swing. OMG. WOW. This kid is horrible." I hear this. Now I handle this from a coaches perspective and from a parent perspective. I must say I could have handled it better. I was pretty worked up. My question is from the umpire perspective how would you handle it. If you were the BU and heard 1 teams coach making fun of the opposing teams players?

WHOOOSH!!!!!! To the moon!!!!

And in a small community league setting I'm also going to inform the BoD about this guys behavior. If he's got the nerve to run his gums about a kid at the 7-8 y/o level it's only going to get worse over time. Nothing good can come from this idiots callous remarks.

Ok guys thank you very much. That was my initial thought but I felt I was way too close to this situation to be objective. Not gonna lie as a parent/coach I was pretty hot.
