  4. MLBAM mislabeled it as interference, but is he safe because a play is being made on him? http://m.mlb.com/video/v568979983/?query=oddities
  5. Been looking for this too...
  6. These situations look identical to me, unintentional interference with the runner legally touching a base. In one instance he's out, in the other he's safe. I was under the impression the base only protected the runner from interference in an infield fly rule situation (and I could be wrong on that). In neither instance is the infield fly rule in effect. Don't see how the Tigers/Twins situation could be considered intentional. There was nowhere for him to go. Was the rule changed from 2012 to 2015? This is how it reads online now: (b) He intentionally interferes with a thrown ball; or hinders a fielder attempting to make a play on a batted ball;Rule 7.08(b) Comment: A runner who is adjudged to have hindered a fielder who is attempting to make a play on a batted ball is out whether it was intentional or not. If, however, the runner has contact with a legally occupied base when he hinders the fielder, he shall not be called out unless, in the umpires judgment, such hindrance, whether it occurs on fair or foul territory, is intentional. http://m.mlb.com/video/v24993687/?query=umpire%2Boddities http://m.mlb.com/video/v149429883/?query=bautista%2Bpop%2Bup
  7. http://www.hardballtimes.com/rules-and-quirks/ Incidentally, the rules would have also allowed Graffanino to give Kapler direct assistance. In the above instance there is nothing in the rules to prevent Graffanino from pushing or lifting Kapler around the bases himself. Is this really allowed if a player hits a home run, R2 is injured and collapses between 2nd and 3rd, this says the BR is allowed carry Kapler around the bases? I thought runners aren't allowed to assist others?
  8. Look how far the umpire is from 1st for the bunt attempt at 19:11, the camera had to zoom out to find him. I see a good angle (from my uneducated opinion), but the distance seems a little extreme...
  9. Isn't the catcher protected here? Why isn't it interference on Figgins?
  10. Everything looks okay to me, thoughts? Wasn't really an attempted tag until he was diving into 3rd...
  11. At what point can an ejected player come on the field? After the umpires leave? I can't imagine seeing an ejected player come out for post game handshakes... I'm not trying to be difficult, I actually don't know the rule.
  12. Correct, and I'm asking was he allowed to be on the field or should that be a fine/suspension? Once the umpires leave the field, is it okay?
  13. http://espn.go.com/blog/buster-olney/insider/post?id=11435 He was doing it to give an interview, but I thought the player can't come back onto the field after an ejection? Edit: I'm not talking about him being ejected, it's the fact that after the game he comes back onto the field to give an interview, whereas I thought he wasn't permitted on the field...
  14. I thought he was saying "do his job" instead of "ask for time" maybe something along the lines of "can't do his job"
  15. Assuming MLB rules here, what's the ruling? You can see the umpire never gives a signal. Edit: Also, I know there's a rule for replay that says that the runner would be safe on review if it's determined that the catcher misses the tag but the runner never touched homeplate. However, isn't that only for replays?
  16. Obviously not related to the call at 3B, but I'm wondering is that standard movement before a pitch, I thought umpires usually hover in the slot and then get set as the delivery gets started, looks like he doesn't get set until right when the pitch is released...
  17. Also, I'm new to this, but isn't that a lot of movement by HPU as the pitch is coming in?
  18. If the batter doesn't react, is it Ball 2? https://gfycat.com/ifrt/JauntyEmbellishedFennecfox
  19. How did the umps miss this at first? Reminds me of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gbuv96a26qU
  20. I think this camera angle should give some context, looks like it was an exchange between the benches and not directed at the umpires: http://screengrabber.deadspin.com/tv-cameras-catch-josh-donaldson-telling-angels-F*#K-yo-1705313991
  21. At the 0:57 mark, the third base coach is in fair territory on the infield. That's gotta at least be a warning right? http://m.mlb.com/video/v96859083/nyybos-hanigan-awarded-double-on-fan-interference/?query=umpire Sorry, embedding is not working for me... Edit: Obviously the ball is dead so it's nothing, but if the ball had been live, there wouldn't be anything here?
  22. So with the Orioles being the "home" team in Tampa Bay this week, I'm wondering are there any special rules that come into effect because the home team is not hosting. For example, Tampa Bay still dictates the ground rules, correct? If the fans start throwing trash on the field and don't stop, is it the Orioles who forfeit? Are there any other oddities that come into play with this series?
  23. Do you have access to the whole program? Would love to watch it...
