Never have and probably never will. Don't see a need. I don't wear a cup while golfing either. As a player the cup is necessary because you are trying to stop balls. As an umpire I'm trying to get the hell out of their way. I've never once been hit by a ball in a game anywhere on my body, let alone in a particular place. I wear one and yesterday it still didn't matter. Foul ball off the plate bounced up my chest and literally rolled up and under the throat guard. Not a good feeling - took a few minutes to recover and finished the game though.

So I've worn this now for several weeks. I use the NB with the compression shorts and wear Hexpads over that. Holds everything really well most of the time. The cup does sometimes feel like it's coming away from my body when I'm in my stance. Going to try and position the cup a bit lower and see if that helps.

I just ordered the NB with their compression shorts and should get it later today. I plan on wearing my McDavid hexpads over them. Will report back on the difference vs. my Shockdoctor.

In LL however wouldn't the run come off the board and R2 would be the third out on the appeal for leaving early? It's not a timing play as far as I understand for LL.

You can adjust the shoulder caps. Take out the padding in the cap and you'll see the strap. If you loosen it the caps will drop down more. My problem with this CP is that it tends to ride up on me and I'm pulling it down from the neck opening. Trying to solve that problem...

I think you get hot in any CP and the 3 extra inches isn't going to be noticeable, at least to me. And if I cover the soft part of my stomach a little bit with hard shell I'm willing to take the extra protection.

I updated the original post with my size info. My bottom ribs were not completely covered, but maybe they are when in a crouch. I'm not sure why there is so much concern of having 'too long' of a chest protector. I know people talk about weight of the CP but 3 extra inches isn't really adding much to the equation and I don't feel like I have less mobility with the 15" on. The bottom of the 15" does not touch my buckle when I'm in my crouch either. What am I missing about this? Is it a 'tough guy' thing? Sorry for the noob question.
