I actually tried them on last night and my concern is very minimal. The ankle pieces slightly rub the rear outside peak on the shoe and not anywhere near where my All-stars rubbed. I think it has to do with the amount of material below the lower hard plastic bottom. The All-Stars have three or four inches of material? The F3 have a inch, maybe? So the All-Stars ride lower on the leg due to it being more flexible and form to upper foot/ankle.
Same situation as OP, also LL. The coach stood in the dugout doorway, telling the kid to run. Kid refused (was embarrassed about striking out) and tried to sidestep the coach, who blocked him with his hand. NOW I have an out! Coach INT. We chuckled a bit.
