Crews seen so far on their respective opening days.

Crew chiefs usually always start (HP) on opening day.

Only Tomlinson??? is not full time on the crews below, although there could be a call up on the 4 crews not seen.

(would think it is better to start season as a call up than not start the season as call up, but who knows).

Other 4 crews probably, 2 crews on vacation and 2 crews in Replay

Yes, according to umpscorecards there has been a sub 90 2 sub 90 scores and back to back on the same crew at that.

Iassongna at 87.88 on 132 pitches and lucked up with only 4 challenges missing 3 out of 4.

Yes, Bucknor got the big article after yesterday's game (not up on ump scorecards yet) (now it is up) and he was over 90, oops under 90 with an 88.34 on 223 pitches and had worse luck with 7 challenges and missing 6 out of 7, compared to Iassogna living with the angels and only having 4 challenged.

With Hudson and Miller, Gibson right on the 90's mark with 90.08, 90.71 and 90.26 respectively

and remember, umpires asked for full ABS, but the request was denied, and the challenge system implemented. so blame management if you think full ABS should be implemented or thank management if you think there should be a/the challenge system. wonder what the gamblers want/prefer.

Miller, Fairchild, Whitson, Walsh

Johnson, Wolcott, Ramon De Jesus, Clemons

Wegner, Dreckman, Torres, Tomlinson

Porter, Wolf, Otiz, McKay

Diaz, O'Nora, Segal, Bacchus

Iassogna, Bucknor, Beck, Rehak

Conroy, Tumpane, May, Miller

Marquez, Barrett, Moore, Estabrook

Guccione, Rackley, Ceja, Ramos

Hoye, Reyburn, Barber, Wendlestedt

Fletcher, Blaser, Visconti, Tosi

Barksdale, Little, Additon, Wills

Hudson, Gibson, Blakney, Mahrley

Baker, Drake, Scheurwater, Valentine

Eddings, Muchlinski, Morales, Jiminez

last 4 crews added below

Kulpa, Barry, Gonzalez, Hanahan

Bellino, Ripperger, Livensparger, Merzel

Carapazza, Wendelstedt, Lentz, Moscoso

Tichenor, Miller, Hamari, Vondrak

**

segal with an accuracy of 88.82 per ump scorecards on 29th and now an 89.74  on 4/3 in first 2 HPs. affects younger and older umpires. 5th season sub 90% yesterday 4/4 with Clemons at 87.18. gonna happen.

Interesting observation as this is the first time I can recall no AAA umpires were up. Looks like they moved some guys whose crews were off to sub on other crews.

without checking. when did Tomlinson go full time?  i will look up, later, the 2025 media guide on

steve the ump site. he was not one of the two this year, and i do not think one of the  three or four last year.

W. Traynor 1st call up to "appear by time of day" in regular season 2026. in Washington for game with Dodgers. nice to be up this early. they are high/phenom on him from all appearances. may skip over some others on way to full time in the future. of course nothing is guaranteed.

J. Jean is 2nd call up to appear in 2026 in Pittsburgh against visiting Orioles, for Bucknor who is on concussion protocol.

Edwin Jiminez 3rd call up to appear out on the west coast last night.

Jen Pawol 4th call up to appear after rainout yesterday and will be at 1B and 3rd, with just those 2 games.

all 4 will be looking to add more games this year from 2025

Traynor had 66 in 2025, Jean 93 in 2025, after 31 in 2024, Jiminez 121 after 79 and 88 in 2023 and 2024 respectively, and his brother Emil was hired FT 2025 after two seasons in 2023 and 2024 with 114, and 121 games per season respectively, Pawol had 18 in 2025.

Interesting aspect is that if you look at the current MLB roster, there are 15 umpires will be at at least 25 years of service time next year/this offseason (Eddings, Kulpa, Wolf, Fletcher, Diaz, O’Nora, Hudson, Wegner, Dreckman, Iassogna, Bucknor, Marquez, Wendelstedt, Randazzo, Miller.) You’d have to think they are operating on having a ton of AAA umpires ready just in case. I think that’s why guys like Bacon have been sticking around.

Pawol up in KC on 4/4 for the double header. Looks like she was in Omaha Friday so probably one of those “who is closest and on the call up list” decisions.

Barksdale's crew, up for Barksdale.

barksdale, going by the box scores,  which could be inaccurate, worked home last night and is at 3rd today, so pawol may have been up for him personally on friday if he took that one day off only.  but that game was cancelled and they played a double header yesterday. looks like pawol was just up to work 1st and third on the double header only yesterday, and was pretty close by in omaha as was mentioned above. this has been done before so plate gets a rest after 1st game.

Pawol working HP in Omaha right now against Buffalo.

and the Bacon-ator has been called up from Columbus for the double header in Cleveland.

Looks like Willis got the night cap off after having the plate in the afternoon game. When there is a double header, do they always bring in someone to give the plate the other game of the DH off? I can't remember this happening before but, being in Milwaukee, we never have home double headers.

without doing a deep deep dive into stats, i checked a kc doubleheader in 2018 on april 28 in which Sean Barber was called up for this maneuver. so, without being on the inside, by stats it goes back to at least 2018 if not earlier. playoffs do something similar using the reserve umpire situation which is why the crew chief no longer works 2 plates 1st game and 7th game, in a 7 game series anymore.

Yes this has been common in MLB for a long time

Lot of AAA umpires up today on 4/6
