I order a copy of "The Rules and Lore of Baseball" from an online used book site and when it arrived there was a neat little bonus.

Apparently it used to belong to Mr. Dan Toal. I Googled Mr. Toal and he was an umpire in the Southwest part of the country back in the 80s.

Has anyone ever crossed paths with him?

Good find, conbo61. When I started, long before the proliferation of manuals, forums and instructional materials, that book was a bible to me.
