Very timely article...I had a cross-town rivalry HS game on Friday and called "Yes he did!" on a swing.  Coach knew he couldn't appeal, but his argument was that I can't be looking at the pitch and swing at the same time.  The ball was way outside on RH batter.  I had no problem seeing the "swing" and the pitch, just as it says in the article.  Of course, the opponent, who was winning 11 - 2 after 2 innings had 2 check swing appeals that I didn't see because of the proximity of the pitch to the zone.  My partner had swings both times.  The AC for the losing team was somewhat upset, but he's an assistant.
