LL Minor Division. R2 2 outs, B hits hard ground ball up the middle, ball ticks off F1 glove, then hits R2 off the base. F6 is behind R2 waiting for the ball and does have a chance to make a play. I kill the play, call the runner out, 3 outs.

Then i look it up after the game, 7.09 (k). Fair batted ball touches the runner before touching a fielder....... Is the pitcher a fielder? the next sentence says Through or by infielder....

just wondering if i got this right. No complaints from either bench.....

Thanks.

For the deflection play the pitcher is a fielder.  It's a deflected batted ball.  It is thus NOT interference.

For the "through or by" part, however,  the pitcher is NOT an infielder because the runner will not be immediately behind him which is a requirement on a non-deflected batted ball.

So you were incorrect.
