He does this regularly, with any ball hit down into the left field corner at Fenway as it's not really possible to see the ball down there from any real distance into foul territory.  If he isn't in the way of the play there is nothing to call.

He is also half way between his box and home plate before the pitch.

As above, if no interference, then no call - if the other team complains, then all base coaches are kept in the boxes - hence, no one complains.
