HAHAHAHA. So last night I was like "wow my gear bag smells pretty bad." I opened it up and it turns out that I am that one complete dumbass that didn't wipe all of the rain off of my gear before I stuck it in a nylon bag and my hats, indicators, shoes, and chest protector are now covered in mildew, not to mention it all just reeks.  The shoes and hats I know I can just toss in the washer and I'll just rinse off the indicators but does anybody know how to get this gunk out of padding? (Especially when it doesn't come fully apart from the shell.)

Spritz it? Soak it?

I would soak it and let it dry completely. If any vinegar smell remains, you could then use soap and water and rinse well and then dry completely.

Borax works too if the vinegar doesn't solve the problem but I'd soak them a few times after in clean water and let air dry to make sure all the Borax is out. There are a lot of tutorials on pinterest on ways to get mildew out.
