Had the plate for a Jr. LL game today.

B4th 1 out. Batter hit a popup that only goes about 2 feet in front of the plate. F2 goes out to catch it.............. ball ticks off F2's mitt, hits the ground and goes to the backstop. I Point Fair, batter ends up on third......no question from VTHC..... which really surprised me.....

B5th catcher sets up outside, and of course pitch comes inside. F2 tries to catch but misses completely. Ball hits my left hand, which i thought i had behind my knee......... indicator flies to the back stop...... I shake my had some and make a fist, all good, just hurts like hell...... go to pick up my indicator. a nice stainless Markwort, and the rivet for the strike wheel is gone. pull the plastic backup out of my bag and back to work......

Top of the next inning. 3-1 count on the batter,(I had just given the count), pitch right down the middle. "STRIKE 3!!!!!!" batter turns around " that's only 2" so i do the punch out "STRIKE 2!!!!!!!" Batter steps back in and hits a line drive to right center on the next pitch...... Lots of laughs.........Knew it was bound to happen someday,

My best punch outs have been strike 2's.  Seen this in the MLB many times.

I only know of two umpires that have never done a strike two punch-out. They both lie about lots of other SH*# too.

Had that happen this past weekend.  Plate for State LL Big League tourney game.  Punched a guy out on Strike 2.  Batter turned, looked at me funny, and that's when it hit me that I had F---ed up.  Everyone on the field, including myself got a nice laugh out of it.  But the best came from the announcer at the end of the inning; No runs, no hits, nobody left on, and 1 error, on the HPU.
