Question

Situation:

HS game.

Runner on 2nd, no outs.

Batter hits a standup double to right center.

Runner on 2nd falls down running to 3rd base, gets up and gets thrown out at the plate.

Time is called.

Coach comes out to plate asking for the batter to be called out for stepping out of the box on a batted ball.

There are no visible white lines anywhere in the vicinity of Home Plate. The umpires start looking at footprints.....LOL

Plate and field umpire talk, batter is called out after conferring for 5 minutes, runner that was thrown out at the plate is put back on 2nd base.

Other coach Protests the game on the basis that the Batter stepping out of the box needs to be called immediately when it happens.

Def not a delayed dead ball.

Rules involved?

Should protest be upheld?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Wow.

Can't make that call in that situation unless it's obvious, let alone trying to get it after a conference.

That being said, this is not protestable. They fixed it on the play it occurred, and ended up with the result it would have been had it been called immediately. No rules were applied incorrectly.
