Not sure where to post this and this seemed a reasonable area.  I am no going into week 3 of not working a game or even being scheduled for a game since I ejected a coach in a 10u game.  I'll post the situation below that cause the ejection but now I'm really getting ticked off as the scheduler won't return my call and explain to me why I'm not working games.  I'm really at a loss as how to handle this situation since everything is done by phone.  This group doesn't use Arbiter or anything else like that.  I missed the deadlines to do HS and JV games this year and now I can't even work small diamond games apparently.

I posted this over at Umpire.org originally.

Doing a 10u game the other night and I was behind the plate and my brother was in the field. There was a collision at first base. Batter hit a grounder to second and the first baseman jumped to field a poor throw and ended up stradling the bag as the batter barrelled over him. My brother makes the out call and then the coaches come running over. I allowed them to come over because both kids were laying on the ground and it's not our place to treat the kids if they are injured. The hitting team coaches started to argue that there should have been obstruction even after I explained why it wasn't. As they walked off one of the coaches cursed and complained so he got the hook really quick. When I'm behind the plate I do not tolerate cursing of any type at that age level. In the very next inning now these guys are in the field and anyone that has done 10u knows how crazy it can get. Bases loaded and there is a pass ball, runner on first takes off towards second while the other runners stay put. According to the fielding team the runner went past second and never retouched on his way back to first. They appealed and my brother calls safe since he never saw it and neither did I. I had a bad angle trying to stay out of the catchers way and my brother was trying to keep up with where the throw might go. The coach then comes over and asks me if I even know the rule. I probably should have ejected him then and there but I didn't. I don't know if they had a third coach or not but the game was over not long after that. They ended up not taking their final at bat, in part due to being over the time limit and because the other team scored 10 runs or so in the top of the inning. This was only my 5th game being back in saddle but if feels like I never left.

The coach that was ejected was the AC. I was not trying to jump in on the call I was simply trying to make sure the kids were OK and had drifted down the line. The coaches asked my brother then they turned and started asking me. The HC was the one asking questions but it was the AC who voiced the his displeasure by cussing. I hope this clears up a few questions.

Quick update.  @JaxRolo helped me out big time.  Worked my first game in three weeks last night and it was great.  For a 10u game it was actually a good game, the pitchers were very good along with some decent devensive work and in the end the final score was 5-3.   The coaches were nice, I even had some of the parents tell me "Good game" and "Thanks".  I've got 3 more games on Saturday to work and it feels so good to be back out there.

As a young umpire many years ago, I got into a heated argument with a coach and he ended it with the "I'm on the league board and you will never work around here again" threat........I called my assignor and told him to expect the call......

My assignor laughed.............and he said a few things I'll never forget......

1. Keep doing your best...

2. You will be umpiring a long time after this guy is out of the game....

3. There is no shortage of games for good umpires....
