Ignore or Eject

I'm pretty sure ignoring this was the right decision, but I wanted to get feedback on here.  Had a situation yesterday in an 18U game where there was a lead runner going into third, I was BU and I heard my PU say "I've got third", but it was pretty late.  I stayed home at second, but as the throw came in I looked at third.  My partner was about 25 feet from 3b right on the 3b base line.  I called the runner out.  The 3b coach argued the call and with the PU and seemed to be implying that I should have had the call.  It wouldn't let it go so the PU said "that's enough let's play baseball".  The coach said something else and my partner replied with "Coach, not another word".  The coach turned around to walk towards the dugout and said "word".  As his back was to the PU I'm not sure of the plate umpire heard it.  But it was loud enough for me to hear it from "C".

 

Now for starters I will say that my number if ejections has gone down considerably since I've taken the advice of never saying "not another word" or "one more word and you'll be ejected".  So don't give that advice as I already personally use it.  But in this case is this enough of a show of disrespect to toss the manager?

Once he, the PU, says I got third, he has third.  Why did you make the call?  It wasn't your to make.  When I, or my partner screw up, my ears handle the managers arguments much, much more.

So, I would have ignored this. (But I never say "Not another word!"  This is what happens!)

First, if you made the call, right or wrong, direct the coach to you. Don't let your partner take the heat for your call. Second, things said, for the most part, while walking away are best ignored. The worst thing you can look like is the aggressor in situations.

Sorry, don't know why I wrote that.  He made the call not me, I simply looked that way.  But he was not in the best position to do so, which is what I believe started the coach complaining.

I agree on this one to ignore it. But as I've said before, if a participant says something that's ejection worthy that I'm certain my partner didn't hear, I'll be only too happy to book them a reservation in the parking lot.
