Last night was a great night. I had the honor of umpiring the 10-AAA district Championship game. I umpired with two first class guys, one a now full-time College umpire, the other a several time State Tournament umpire. I tried to soak in the moments of pregame with these gentlemen and I enjoyed calling with them. It was outstanding to have all of us in proper positions, hustling, handling the game like professionals. It was refreshing and was a great learning exp. for me in my young career. I noticed how crisp the UIC was behind the plate and will use those lessons in the future. The game was a Mercy rule in 6 innings but was fantastic until the 5th inning, I had atleast 6 or 7 bang bang calls and I tried my best to make sure I was standing tall and patient on calls.

Overall, the seniors said I fit right in and would call with me any day.

I'm a fairly new ump (2nd year) and have had some vets tell me the same thing....that they'd ump with me anywhere.  To me, this is worth gold......i hear where you're coming from.

CONGRATS!!!!!

P.S.  I lik the "tall and patient" approach you took on bangers.   NICE JOB !!!!!!!!!!!
