Odd. There's nothing to point at here. He was about to make a great call, point and bang... But then, safe?? It's almost like he second guessed himself.

Maybe he's pointing that he saw the tag but calling safe because he thought he was on the base when he tagged him. However, if that's the case, why did he get help?

I like that they were able to correct the call.

I agree with Jocko that this is timing.  He got himself crossed up by being too quick and the only way he could correct it was to get help, no other way to do it.  Had to let the manager have his say first since he came out then have a conversation with his partners.

 

Good that they got it correct.
