To all the guys who EJd when the Coach wanted to go, I say thank you.

Recently moved up a level and I am getting really good HS games.    Had a game with two coaches with reputations.   Heard some stories.   I braced for the worst.

The week before, VTAC was tossed for UC.   I worked a game the week before where HTHC was tossed by my partner.   Both Umpires tried hard to keep them in the game, but both coaches asked to leave so they were excused.

So I had a game with both of these teams this week and it is SUPER SMOOOOOTH.   Not one issue.  One chirp on a punchout.   My partner on the bases took a little heat.   But otherwise, nothing.

While I feel I am getting better at game management and I definitely take whatever credit there, I also know I had a smoother game because  the previous umpires did their job.

We usually talk about not making it harder on the next guy, but this week I was the next guy, and the next guy says thanks.

Kudo's to all the guys before you that did the job, but a pat on the back for yourself.  When you take the field with confidence, take the time to improve at clinics and camps, spend the hours in the books (and online), Coaches seem to understand that the inner confidence you exude probably isn't something they really want to trifle with.  There will always be some that just don't get it, and your gonna have to clear them out no matter what, but there many more that will learn that beating their head against a wall isn't going to work in their favor.
