Umpire school

I'll be attending PBUC in January and was wondering if you all had any advice. Things to do/not to do. Extra things I should bring that you might have wish you brung....etc.

1. Wear a suit when you show up.. your trying for a job, it's a job interview. Get there early as you can so you dont have to wait in a big room all day. DON'T, DON't ask questions.. If your thinking of a question, wait they will more than likely answer it. or some other guy will ask it. Stay after on the fields everyday and work on things, don't party.. or wait till sat night...Don't talk in line when your waiting for your turn for drills, stand to the side and practice ( this will show determination).. At class in the moring wear your base umpire clothes.. DON'T.. DON'T wear shorts or jeans to class ever. True story..last year we had only 2 night classes, on one of them me and my roommate went to the room and changed into slacks and shirt and tie.. Head instructor said " nice Choice".. funny huh me and him got sent to PBUC...LOL

dont play football on the beach, unless you want to get hurt..

If you play golf take your clubs, cause on Sundays you can play. take a voice recoder so you can record all the things about the rules and the really cool way they go through the book.. I took notes and got carpal tunnel syndrome...J.K.. good luck work hard, study, have fun, make friends... and dont ask questions...

DO NOT EVEN APPEAR TO BE DISENGAGED FROM THE INSTRUCTION!

DO NOT TRY TO ONE BETTER ANY INSTRUCTOR

DO NOT BE A BROWN NOSE

DO NOT ASSOCIATE WITH ANYBODY WHO DOES ANY OF THE ABOVE. YOU COULD BE SEEN AS GUILTY BY ASSOCIATION.

DO IDENTIFY THE TOP PEOPLE IN YOUR GROUPS AND WORK COLLABORATIVELY WITH THEM, STUDYING, PRACTICING MECHANICS, ANYTHING.

Instructors love when they are walking down the hall late night hearing guys practicing their calls "He's out!" , "Safe!", "He's off the bag!", "Strike" ...

If you are looking for a job don't engage instructors at the local watering hole. They need their down time too. Work hard, study hard and practice in your room as much as possible.
