I have never had a problem with explaining a balk, especially at the younger ages where they are new to the rule. In answer to Pete's question I had already stated what I have done, if you want I don't warn. If you want warnings, call somebody else. I have worked too many JV games where pitcher have played JrLL or Pony with warnings and they get to HS and don't know what they are doing. By not warning, I am trying to save myself problems down the road.

there is a CD out "see a balk call a balk" I suggest all those who want to warn the pitches watch the CD. as those that say this league has that rule, the rules are added by coaches who always look for ways to win--this does not make them bad--a coaches job is the win--a umpires job is to call the game by the rules--not rules made up by people who want only to win.

Didn't people write the rules or were they handed down from upon high.

You contradict yourself.

If your job is to call the game by the rules, and that League says you warn, you call it by their rules or don't work their games if you feel so strongly.

I don't think anyone said they want to warn on balks.

They are merely complying with the rules of that particular league.
