D-Day. June 6. Over 100,000 allied forces engaged in a full frontal aerial/amphibious assault against the axis and Hitler. Up and down the coastline, brave young men launched an attack that began our march across Europe. Over 9,000 men were WIA/KIA in the single day of battle. These men are our great grandfathers/grandfathers. There a few of them remaining, but I cherish every second I've spent speaking with these honored veterans.

Went to the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA last November. Truly moving, and great to have a personal tour (due to lack of attendance that colder day) that explained the story, many years in the planning and sacrifices by all of the Allied nations, including the resistant forces from those who were occupied by Nazi Germany, such as the Free French forces. Also, the reason it is in Bedford, is that they lost the most per capita, where 19 of the "Bedford Boys" lost their lives by the end of the day, out of a community of 3200.
