Some kinda night.

Hs game tonight, I have the plate. Visiting F1 is bringing it pretty good, mid- to upper-80s. Bottom three, I'm locked in, F2 rocks back into me and hits my mask, which slides down about an inch. Of course, on this pitch, the batter fouls it straight back. Skips off the top of my head. Not solid, but still rings my bell a little.

Next inning, foul ball straight down between my feet. Bounces up into the bottom of my cup, got about half cup, half me. I take a few steps back and take a knee in the grass for a minute. I'm up, I'm ok.

Next inning, same thing. Straight down, up into me. No cup this time, all me. Solid hit:crybaby2:. I'm on the ground before I really know I got hit. This one takes a good three minutes to shake off. Next pitch, ball. Next pitch, ball. Next pitch, foul ball. Right into my throat guard. I stay on my feet this time at least, but had my hands on my knees for about a minute, laughing between coughs. It's just funny at this point. All this because two weeks ago, I remarked on my luck at not yet being hit this fall in 15 games. Murphy's a :censored:hole.

I've been home about an hour. On my second beer. I think I need something stronger.

How low are you positioned for the catcher to be able to hit your mask? Sounds like you may be too low. Rough night though. I would have added a bag of frozen peas for the boys in addition to the beers...

He doesn't sound low, he sounds close. Recheck your slot position and have another beer.

I guess its probable I was too close...didn't feel any different than usual but the catcher was a late mover and I'm sure as I moved with him I got too close a few times.

As for the Nutty Buddy...I have one. Got it a year ago. Its sitting on the top shelf of my closet, exactly where it was last night after I forgot it in my rush to get to the field for my 5:30 game after my 3:05-4:20 class got out late. Had to wear my backup cup. Murphy leaves nothing to chance lol. I'm ordering a second Nutty Buddy today.
