CDP Questions

I'm thinking about going to Cooperstown Dreams Park in 2011. I'm fairly certain I can find a team to take me, as I've received some positive feedback from local managers who are taking teams next year.

Before I agree, however, I'd like to know more about the week. There's no one better than the people that have been there. So, if you've been to CDP, especially recently, I'd love to hear from you. Please be frank -- I want to know the good and the bad. You don't have to answer every question, and you can also PM me instead of posting here.

In effect, I want to read as many experiences as I can. Asking the wife to travel away for a week isn't the easiest, so I want to have a good case.

1. How many years have you been to CDP? When was your last year?

2. How many weeks do you typically go?

3. How much were you paid to go? Were traveling expenses covered in addition, or as part of your price?

4. Did you fly in? If so, what airport? How did you get to CDP from there? If a rental car is needed, how much did you need it?

5. What do I need to bring for uniforms?

6. What do I need to bring for misc other things?

7. Tell me about the week, beginning with what happens after you get there, through leaving.

8. How is the tournament set up for the teams?

9. How many games do you get to umpire in a day? In a week?

10. How much free time do you have? What did you do during your free time?

11. Did you get a chance to visit Cooperstown? Did you ride the train there?

12. How good are the teams?

13. What ruleset is used? How many innings? Is there a time limit? Is there a run rule?

14. How are the sleeping quarters?

15. How is the food? Is it only offered during certain times?

16. Excluding off-property (Cooperstown, etc) costs, how much should I plan on spending at CDP?

17. Overall, is it worth going? Did you have a good time? Would you go back?

If there's anything you can think of that I didn't ask, please mention it. Thanks a lot for your time.

read some on abua.........hoping you got your questions answered.....was asked to go with a team a number of years ago compensated. Real job interfered and I had to beg off.....
