No fading on mine yet. I did have to trim a couple of loose strings.

Got some scotch guard today and plan to spray it on the bags and the collars of my two Majestic shirts per your advice.

Give them the proper training, backing and evironment, the kids can do it. Heck, this season we put two guys (both 15) on LL Section plates, one doing 11/12s and the other a 9/10 championship dish. Both were money. And Section games in SoCal are a big deal. (Well, big for LL)

Out West, LL has a really cool, one week live-in school just for Junior umpires ages 13-18. It's Evan's based training, and run by some very good teachers. Guys that do college and pro ball, not just LL guys. Game management, and dealing with tough situations is stressed, as these guys have double duty in handling adult situations. Easy? For everyone? No way. But they learn a lot of good life lessons along the way, plus pick up a nice vocation for getting them through college. Plus, it keeps the kids involved with something positive when their playing days are over. Not a bad deal for everyone.

So that's where my spare gear goes. (and all my spare time)
