Worked 6 Games at a Local 13U Tournament.

On Saturday in on of the games I was PU. I call CI award first base. DC Comes out arguing that the batter was to far back in the box :blah:blah:blah

I told him no the batter was fine. The catcher kept creeping up to home plate before each pitch.

He didnt like it. Kept arguing. He said I probably had never even played baseball in my life.

I told him thats enough. He started laughing. Bye Bye.

The next day I am PU in the Championship game. Same Coach. :)

His team is batting R1, R2 no outs, BR hits a grounder to Short. R2 Interferes with the F6. We Call INT. Runner out.

Same coach comes out. We try to explain. Coach says that he is not leaving until we throw him out. BU acted immediately and EJ the coach. Coach turn to BU says to him hes totally wrong then he turns to me and says I am Still Wrong from the CI the day before and He is not leaving the field. I say to him you have 1/2 a second to leave or you forfeit. At he time his team had the lead.

He left and they ended up losing the game :D

The thing is that in 2 days of play we never had any complaints on Strike Zones or Close call. Only those 2 INT plays. And that made us the worst Umpires ever. Go figure.

And did the coach leave the field in 1/2 second?

If not, why didn't you award the forfeit?

The point here is that you should never put up a condition like this. All you need to state to him is that you won't be restarting the game until he is out of sight and out of sound of the game. If, after a reasonable delay, he is still on the field, you point your finger to the other team and award the game (provided the tournament rules allow for that sort of thing).
