I was in my car for a whole 5 minutes just a little while ago and heard this. And no I was not listening to Coast to Coast with George Noory.

Kook Alert consider yourself warned

There was a caller who was suggesting that the umpiring in the playoffs was a conspiracy among Bud Selig and a few umpires. His theory went along the lines of that Selig has publicly stated he does not want replay to expand, but in actuality he does. And apparently he has colluded with umpires who are either nobodies and not going anywhere, and he used Cuzzi & Bucknor as examples, or umpires who are on their way out, and used McClelland as an example.

Well apparently Selig has influenced these umpires to intentionally "miss easy calls" as the caller put it, so that the fans, GMs and players would have to force his hand to make the "tough decision" on expanding replay which Bud really wants to do anyway.

He also said this will be used against the umpires in their upcoming contract negotiations.

And Selig becomes the saviour to baseball.

1. I like the use of the english spelling of saviour, you so rarely see that nowadays.

2. I think there are some better words we could find to describe Selig. I am not sure that saviour would be on my list. :)

B)

The sad thing is that I DO believe it. Not the logic of the story but that someone would think it and that someone else would put it on the air.
