NCAA Football Week 7

Okay my schedule is going to be really tough this week so I'll make my picks now.

Game of the Week

Virginia Tech @ Georgia Tech

To tell you the truth I'm completely torn in this game. Both teams have awesome defenses. GT has one of the best ground attacks in the nation with their triple option, but VT is up to the challenge. VT's offense has been inconsistent at best. Taylor and the offense can look really good against sub par teams like Marshall, BC & Duke, but have to rely on their defense and Beamer Ball to win against top tier teams. GT does not make a lot of mistakes for VT to take advantage of. VT will have to play at the level they played against Alabama. GT's Defense will have to control Taylor and take him out of the equation and force VT to rely on their defense. Bobby Dodd Stadium is also not the best place for a team to travel too and definitely gives a home field advantage. Plus this game means something. The ACC Coastal is tight. VT with a win is in a dominate position with a relatively easy schedule ahead of them. GT with a win will have the tie breaker over VT with an even easier rest of the schedule and could almost lock the title. All of this being said. I have to give a slight edge to VT in this game. It will be a great game and a close one.

Upset special

Tulsa over Boise

Okay it's pretty sad when this is the 2nd toughest game on the schedule for the #5 ranked team in the country. Boise heads down to Tulsa who is the C-USA West leader who like Boise hasn't had a tough schedule as of yet. In my opinion this is the definition of must win for Tulsa. The entire college football universe depends on it and if it doesn't happen here it won't happen until the bowl games where we will get treated to an over rated Boise State in a BCS Bowl game which will not be that interesting. Tulsa, fill your obligation and win this one so we don't see another boring BCS bowl game.

Obligatory ECU Pick

Rice @ ECU

ECU is starting down the same road they went down last year and not winning the ones their supposed to, the problem is they haven't met expectations in beating the tough teams on their schedule. Luckily C-USA east is weak this year in comparison. ECU must win here or it will be the Umpire-Empire Bowl for them.

ECU wins.

Oklahoma @ Texas

Big game and while there's a lot on the line in the Big 12 South, there's not a lot on the line at the national level for Oklahoma. With 2 losses already they are already out of the picture for the championship, but are playing for a better Bowl game assigned to Big 12 Teams. Texas is in control while they dropped to #3 they are very much in the hunt to match up against Florida in Pasadena. Texas has a lot more to play for, but playing the role of spoiler can be fun add to that the rivalry this will be one heck of a good game.

USC @ Notre Dame

Big game a lot of attention every year with this game, but what does it mean in the big picture? Not much. Just a loss hurts a lot here when bowl invites go out.
