Well, this is no defense of Selig, who I agree is indeed pathetic, but money is killing MLB, too.

Games are too long? That doesn't seem to bother the people responsible for the revenue streams - e.g., the TV folks, the advertisers, and MLB itself.

They're not going to try and speed games up. Doing so would cost them money. It's all just lip service.

I'm with you, Brian: you may see Bud telling umpires to step up the pace, as far as pitchers and (maybe someday) batters, but you'll never see him go to two commercials between innings, instead of the usual three. Speeding up the game on the field would just mean time for 1 more Bowling Caveman ad.
