I forgot to post this yesterday .... I guess I just forgot. Hometown event and I forgot, ...silly me!

Anyhow, ...discuss this base award on this fan interference? I think it's funny talking with guys in the office (baseball guys) and as soon as a ball goes into the stands they think "2 bases" ...when ...in actuality, as WE know, it's a judgement call sometimes! :)

Well, it was spectator INT on the first guy who touched it if he did touch it first (the one leaning over the rail). Umpire judgment of where to put the runners.

The second one (if he was the first touch of the ball) would be 2 bases b/c that is not spectator INT. The ball was OOP when touched. The fan was within the confines of the fence and thus would be a double with runners now at 2B and 3B. The only way this would be the one it was called on is if the umpire thought they were over the field with the part of their body the ball touched first.

If it is fan interference then it is the god rule and they award what they want. If it is a ball hitting a fan in the stands, two bases. There is nothing to argue, even less reason to get tossed.
