To me it almost funny... 10U and their uni's are blue, but they're named after a cat.

I heard him first a few weeks ago from a warm-up area: "C'mon Blue, what's your problem tonight?!" I had just made a call at 3rd, so I snapped my head around pretty quick. I couldn't tell who said it, but it was just the beginning.

I've had him for a few games now, and I'm practically used to it. After a close play at first and his runner didn't beat it out: "Blue! If you ain't gonna hustle, then go home now!" After a ball from his pitcher to load the count at 3-2: "Dangit Blue, we need an out!"

Out at second: "C'mon Blue! You gotta' get there!" Called 3K: "Jeez Blue, what are you lookin' at!" (He did follow that with, "Swing the bat!") There are a few more you can probably make up on your own. Of course, I have ignored him when he was probably talking to me.. "Blue, how many outs?!" I mean, how do I know?rolleyes.gif I pretty much have him on mute for the whole game anyway... (I found later that he's created little carbon copies of his HS team from back in the day... nicknamed "Blue")

I have considered talking to him about it, but having coached I know the discussion and ensuing argument that would start. I really don't think he's bright enough to be doing the dual-Blue on purpose, and he really doesn't get too out of control with it. My partner caught me at the half-inning with a couple of foul balls and he asked me how did I know if he was talking to us or not? I told him, "You'll know." And somehow during the course of the game, you know... I just let him yell at his team. When he's yelling at me, I know.... but I do make him repeat himself sometimes due to the mute button.

I did have a team once with a kid whose nickname was "Blue"... he was a bit of a screw-up and he got yelled at a lot. Feel free to make up your own quotes for Player Blue or Team Blue...

I have had that before and it drove me crazy but it reminds me of a kinda funny story that happened in a LL big league game last season.

There is a coach in this league that is from up north and he has a strong northern accent. A really good coach but he is big and loud. So he is coaching 1B and a foul is hit over there OOP. A few pitches later he is standing over there looking at F2 and loudly saying " Patrick, Patrick." repeatedly. Finally F2 looks at him and he throws him the ball. This happened a second time and finally the third time he shouted Patrick towrds F2, he looks at me and asks " is your name Patrick?". I was like no, I thought that was your name. He's said no that's not my name. I told him that he had to be calling him Patrick because we have known each other for years and he knows my name.

Anyway the inning ended and the coach comes by on his way to the dugout to hand deliver me a returned foul ball and I tell him that the catcher's name isn't Patrick. He said I wasn't yelling Patrick, I was yelling catcher. We all got a good laugh out of it. I have a strong southern accent so I bet it's a interesting conversation to listen to when we talk.
