Runners on 1st and 2nd when a pop fly is hit to the second baseman. At this point, the umpire immediately calls "Infield Fly" and declares the batter out. The runner on second started running to 3rd when the ball was hit and before the ball was caught. The 2nd baseman catches the ball and immediately throws to the shortstop who tags 2nd base before the runner returns to the base. The umpire states that all force plays are "off" when the infield fly rule is in effect and declares the runner safe at second stating he needed to be tagged out since there is no force. Is this the correct call? I understand there in no longer a force at 3rd base since the batter is declared out but does the "all force plays are off" hold true for the runner leaving the base early on a pop fly? That seems nonsensical. What is the correct call?

Bases loaded, 1 out. Batter hits a low fly ball (not quite a pop-up, not a line-drive) to SS who makes the catch. 3rd base runner tags up, 2nd base runner is about 10 feet off 2B. SS sees this and tosses ball to 2nd baseman. Runner on third, upon seeing SS toss ball to 2ndl, makes a dash to home; runner at 2nd is called out (both base and runner are tagged by 2nd baseman). A second or so later, the 3rd base runner crosses home plate. Umps initially say the run did not score, but then change their mind and decide that the run did count. Thoughts?

So, Babe Ruth league game. Bases loaded, with 1 out. Home team up to bat, down by 2 in the last inning. The batter hits a shallow pop up around second base. No one catches it and F6 gets it on a couple of hops, and throws to F4 for the force on R1. The BR gets to first and R2 and R3 both advance safely advance. Neither umpire calls infield fly, and the play seems over. But after R1 is in the dugout and R3 had scored the umpires call infield fly. The BU puts ALL the runners back on their bases (including the guy who scored and the guy who was forced out at second) and calls out the BR. He explains to the coach that "No runners can advance on an infield fly." That's obviously wrong, and the coach knew he was wrong and tries to explain the runners can advance at their own risk. But the umpire doesn't get it and the coach goes back to the dugout. So, what would you guys do here? Also, the next batter drilled a double over F7's head, so the home team won on the walk-off hit. Thanks.
