  1. i am wondering weather or not this will offer protection for a higher level than the K1 did... if im not mistaking, most of the guys who have the K1 wouldnt recommend it higher than the JV level... correct me if the protection level is higher with the K1. i wonder if one day the protection on a lightweight protector will be able to withstand 90 mph+...just a thought thanks guys, this may influence me in making a decsion on buying the new honigs protector
  2. this is exactly what some members on this board needed... thanks warren. this will really help
  3. That is what I am talking about...the BU deffering to PU There is only ONE time...A PULLED FOOT...other than that, NO OTHER TIME!!! I am not understanding where your partner and yourself are coming from in this situation... Listen to the other people on this board...they know what they are talking about :)
  4. Critter, that is the ONLY time...he is absolutly right listen to what we are telling you...people have some good advice and we know what we are talking about (or most of us)... im not being rude or harsh, im just telling you how it is...from one new englander to another, listen to us!!!
  5. just making sure...
  6. yes. only a player with a glove (doesn't have to be a catcher's glove when warming up), catcher's mask w/ a dangling throat guard, and an athletic supporter (doesn't have to be a cup) may warm up a pitcher.
  7. no it doesnt...who cares:smachhead:
  8. considering that is such a cheap shot, he is gone immediatly and must of been suspended for at least 5 games, right? that is horrible in LL...just horrible :hopmad:
  9. I found this post on "Check Swings" interesting and have nominated it accordingly for "Post Of The Month September, 2009"
  10. it doesnt matter weather or not he is "official". he is your partner and the other umpire on the field, meaning he has almost as much athority as you (UIC makes decsions on playing conditions, and some other game managment thing, etc., but other than that, THE SAME ATHORITY). Treat him as if he were Randy Marsh, or Gary Cederstrom, or any other MLB umpire because he has the same power as them in the game...THE SAME Just because you have never seen an umpire appeal over in the "b" or "c" position doesn't mean anything. It is doesn't matter where he/she is on the field. APPEAL!!!! Like all the other posts have said, the worst that can happen is you get another STRIKE...All umpires in other parts of the country do it this way (other than I guess from your area,-in Baustan we appeal, and socal...). Yes, you made the call yourself...what is your point? critter, if you blank out or something distracts you to the point where you cant see the swing, are you telling us you wouldn't go for help if you partner is in the "b" or "c" position? you may not have the best angle to determine whether or not the batter swung. APPEAL. Your not "official" partner may just have saw the batter made an attempt to swing... and, Warren and Michael have some very good advice. it is best to listen to them, because they know what they are talking about. (50th post...)
  11. who exactly are you referring to?
  12. should...remember, they're announcers
  13. that is true michael. it is a good catch and something to take note of...:agasp_:
  14. Right now, i have no problem with the current replay system. with how the ball park are shaped and designed and how tough some of the homerun calls can be, it makes sense. it is also tough to judge some of the fan interference calls because of how slow some of the umpires are getting out to rule on it (not pointing any fingers though). fair/foul on the homerun calls are questionable, i personally don't like them being up for replay. unfortunanlty, i feel once you go down the road of relpay, you keep going. look at the NFL. i feel that one day the coach's will have some sort of a red flag to throw. as much as this kills me saying it , it more than likely will happen. it hate replay :TD:
  15. I found this post on "Another winner from Warren" interesting and have nominated it accordingly for "Post Of The Month August, 2009"
  16. very nice:agasp_:
  17. nice weather out here. much better than out in new england. dont have to deal with all that humidity. no more mosquitos or snow:). i do miss the atmosphere out there. much more relaxed out in the beantown area. and they love their sox! :rollinglaugh:
  18. as warren said, just keep your back a bit straighter. other than that, you look really good . nice gerry davis stance!!!! :meditation:
  19. im pretty sure a local team (or a team that knows you) gets to take an umpire. it is a cool honor. i was offered to go, but unfortunantly i am only 15 and you have to be 18 to umpire there. my brother's team is going in 2 years, so i will be one year short to umpire then. as for being chosen to umpire the champ. game, im pretty sure you have to stand out there. nate, correct me if im wrong.
  20. atta boy nate! great job :rollinglaugh:
  21. no, thats bruce froemming. im not that big and don't look nearly as old as him (or at least i dont think so)... i dont have a picture of myself that fits the requirments needed to use the picture as my avatar. so, i googled froemming, and that was that.
  22. my dad got a job out here. im only 15, and i really had no choice (well, not a choice at all). i plan on going back for school. probably bc (hopefully) go sox! :rollinglaugh:
