  1. This a spin move with no disenaging the foot. My thought was the 1B was in close proximity to the bag and the ball was thrown directly to the bag.
  2. OBR R1 1B playing off the bag and RHP throws to the bag not realizing his 1B is behind the runner...1B sees the move and dives towards bag to snag the ball... Balk or no balk. I say no balk.
  3. If my co-ordinator saw me wearing a hat backwards I would be pulled off the field and never invited back...and I didnt see one ounce of chalk around the plate....
  4. Agreed....thats why when someone asks me a questions like this, I usually make a caveot about the answer by saying "Its hard to say without seeing the play".
  5. No balk. He is allowed to fake to 3B. His first move was a jump turn to 3B, not to 1B. Given how I understand the description, no balk as long as he showed direction toward 3B, which he did. And, he did nothing to commit himself to 1B or HP, which it doesn't sound like he did. So, I have no balk on anything as I envision the move. I think the pitcher jumped in the opposite direction..in a counter-clockwise direction...would that make a difference?
  6. Got an email about balk-no balk call... "Lh pitcher with runners on 1st and 3 rd. He executes a jump spin move 3rd, comes down turned 180 degrees with feet reversed and stradalling the mound, front foot now behind the mound. He fakes a throw to 3rd, and then looks to 1st, but does not throw the ball to either base." I say balk because during his movement, his front foot passes the rubber, which commits him to pitch, and two his turn was a moition from first to third even though he faked the throw to 3B and then looked 1B, and since he didnt disengage the rubber, a balk becuase his first movement was towards 1B with his spin. what say you? Thanks. Chris

  9. Just wanted to say hey yall..... New to the board...Located about 35 miles of Atlanta. I have been calling from a few years now...both rec baseball and USSSA ball..... Chris
  10. Took place last month during a USSSA Tourney..... U12AA team and things were just not going their way the whole game....5th inning coach starts chirping about the strike zone from the dugout. I calmly go over and ask him to keep his opinion of the strike zone to himself. He calmly walks out of the dug out and at the top of his lungs tells me that is it time to get some new knee pads from being on my knees and sucking so long.... I simply say, "coach your gone" with a giggle in my voice because I could not help but chuckle at what he said....and walk off. His assistant coach then started on me about what was so funny....and all I could do was turn to my partner and say "hey, he thinks I need new knee pads!"....
